The RIDGE Project Southwest Region Hosts Grand Opening Event focuses on how Southwestern Ohioans can benefit from this local non-profit resource
Since 2000 The RIDGE Project has offered programming and resources aimed at strengthening families in Ohio. On Tuesday March 18th , the non‐profit agency will host a grand opening event to both celebrate their new location at 4699 Salem Ave in Dayton and to further inform Southwest Ohioans of the services offered there. The open house will run from 11AM until 5:30.
The RIDGE Project provides programs that empower struggling low‐income and/or ex‐offender parents towards emotional, economic and familial stability. According to Catherine Tijerina, Co ‐ Executive Director of The RIDGE Project this includes classes that focus on “helping people understand that the decisions we make in life are powerful and have consequences both positive and negative.” The program includes curricula on emotional intelligence, communications, and workplace ethics as well as real ‐ world certification training such as CDL and welding licensure.
These courses lay a foundation for a future that Co ‐ Executive Director Ron Tijerina says “provides a golden opportunity for clients that are willing to work hard at being successful.” Cincinnati resident Todd Hudson agrees. He is a recent graduate of The RIDGE Project’s TYRO Dads curriculum and CDL licensure program who has been driving for Trans State Express in Cincinnati for the past 8 months and was recently awarded for his excellent driving record with the chance to drive a brand new 2013 Freightliner. Hudson says his time at The RIDGE Project was “the foundation for moving forward in (his) career.”
Speakers at the event include RIDGE Project Clients and Southwest Ohio residents – Johnnie Carter, Jamaal Green, Storm Otey, Anthony Smith, and Andre Terrell. In addition, Mike Monos Director of Maintenance at PI & I Motor Express will discuss the successful relationship between his company and The RIDGE Project. RIDGE Project Southwest Region leaders Kevin and Michele Shehee and agency Co ‐ Executive Directors Ron and Catherine Tijerina will also be presenting.
The RIDGE Project is a Christian, 501(c)(3) non ‐ profit organization, founded in 2000 that provides services through partnerships with churches, schools, and state and national agencies to serve the youth and families of Ohio. The organization has been recognized as a federal Department of Health and Human Services “Best Practice” program, and has been identified nationally as a leader in family and youth services.
