National Healthy Start Association – COVID-19

A few weeks ago, it was almost impossible to find information about the novel coronavirus, also known as COVID-19. What about COVID-19 and pregnancy? Could a mom breastfeed her baby if she had COVID-19?

And then schools were closed. Day care centers were closed. Parents started working remotely from home, juggling the kids, the house and work all at once. What to do with the kids? How do we keep them occupied and entertained?

NHSA has compiled two lists for you! One of them has general information about the coronavirus, with several links to sites with information about COVID-19 and pregnancy. The other list pertains to infants and children: breastfeeding, kids emotional well-being, things to do.

More Resources! March of Dimes has provided some infographics that you may find useful. Click these links: English, Spanish and one is specific to COVID-19 and Pregnancy.

PCI Global Offered These to Share, Too! Click these links: Arabic, Haitian Creole and Spanish.

Virtual Field Trips & Tours! Things to do with the kids while they are home from school. There are more resources like this on our website, too, but this is a start. Click here.

In case you don’t have enough to read! This attachment has a opinion piece from Dr. Leana Wen, former Baltimore City Health Commissioner, about being pregnant during the COVID-19 pandemic, an article on how hospitals are preparing for deliveries during this time and a “home school plan that’s realistic, not sadistic.” Click here.
